Marcella C. Donath, 95, of the town of Farmington, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at Beechwood Rest Home in Beechwood.
She was born on September 1, 1913, in the town of Kewaskum, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Susan (Schlosser) Uelmen, and on October 6, 1934, she was united in marriage to Herbert Donath at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Michaels. Her husband preceded her in death on May 15, 1966.
Marcella was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Michaels. She will fondly be remembered as “Grandma Cookie” and as a hard worker during her life. She was a member of the Red Hat Society at Beechwood Rest Home and proudly wore her red and purple hat.
Survivors include her son, Herbert “Butch” Donath of Kewaskum; her daughter-in-law, Dian Donath of Fillmore; 11 grandchildren, Susan (Tom) Rettler, Robert (Deb) Donath, Michael (Laurie) Donath, David (Keri) Donath, John (Amber) Donath, Scott (Jenny) Donath, Stephanie (John) Westcott, Herbie (Tiff) Donath, Cindy Donath (special friend, Willie), Debbie (Pat) McFadden and Christopher Donath; a granddaughter-in-law, Kerry (Steve) Forster; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Uelmen and Lily Uelmen both of West Bend; 33 great-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, other relatives, friends and all the residents at Beechwood Rest Home who became her extended family.
In addition to her husband and parents, Marcella was preceded in death by her son, Robert; a sister, Celeste Uelmen; three brothers, Elroy, Raymond and Frank (Alice) Uelmen and a grandson, Jim Donath.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Marcella was held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 8881 Forestview Road, Kewaskum (St. Michaels). Father Edwin Kornath officiated and burial followed in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends called on Saturday at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.
Marcella’s family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Beechwood Rest Home for the compassionate care provided to Marcella during her stay there. You loved her and cared for her during some of her most difficult times and for this we are forever grateful.
