Margaret Frances Davoli

January 12, 1913 — February 15, 2009

Margaret Frances Davoli passed away peacefully in her home in Menlo Park, California on Sunday, February 15, 2009, from complications of cancer. She was 96 years old.

Margaret was born on January 12, 1913, the eighth child of fourteen, to the late Peter and Ludmilla (nee Schnorenberg) Strupp and was raised on a farm near St. Lawrence.
She moved to San Francisco in 1953 and had lived in the Bay area ever since. Margaret was both physically and emotionally a strong woman. She was always a hard worker and well educated, as she always said, “in the school of hard knocks”.
Margaret learned early on that singing a song would always put a smile on her face and one on the faces of those around her. She made fabulous pies and jam, loved to garden and could dance circles around many half her age.
She was honored and loved as a community volunteer for her many years of service at Little House in Menlo Park and with RSVP and Senior Corps. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Redwood City, California, where she sang in the choir, the last choir of many that she sang in since she was a little girl.

Margaret is survived by her children, Dennis (Sue) Bingen of Kewaskum, Kenneth Bingen of Redwood City, California, Dianne (nee Bingen) (Bruce) Edmonds of Atherton, California and Michael (Jan) Flynn of Boise, Idaho. She also leaves a legacy of seven grandchildren, Daniel (Annette) Bingen, Timothy (Amy) Bingen, Deborah (nee Bingen) (Chuck) Nevsimal, Matthew Bingen, Andrew Bingen, Michelle (nee Edmonds) (Ken) Hyde, Darcy (nee Edmonds) (Quinn) Hoellwarth, 13 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her 13 brothers and sisters; her daughter, Mary and her former spouses, Clarence Bingen and Walter Davoli.

A Memorial Funeral Mass for Margaret was held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. Father Edwin Kornath officiated and burial of her cremains followed in Holy Trinity Catholic Church Cemetery on Highway 28 East.
Relatives and friends called on Thursday at the church from 2:00 p.m. until the time of Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the charity of one’s choice or to Holy Trinity Catholic School are appreciated.
