Margaret L. Menger, 57, of the town of Wayne, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2008, at her home.
She was born on July 10, 1950, the daughter of Fred and Hedwig “Hattie” (Hug) Gurtner, and on April 5, 1970, she was united in marriage to Ronald Menger at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Hartford.
Margaret was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in the town of Wayne. She enjoyed working as a volunteer and loved to knit. Margaret made thousands of scarves, hats and blankets for children. When her children married, they each received a handmade quilt from her and each grandchild received one as well. She will be deeply missed by her husband, her family and by all who knew her.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald; four children, Tom (Liliana) Menger of Menasha, Jim (Brigette) Menger of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Connie (Regan) O’Neill of Allenton and Heidi (Quin) Neldner of West Bend; her mother, Hattie Gurtner of Mayville; four grandchildren, Julia and Ian O’Neill and Natalia and Jacob Menger, other relatives and friends.
Margaret was preceded in death by her father and her in-laws, Fritz and Lucy Menger.
Funeral services for Margaret were held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2008, at Salem United Church of Christ, 8925 County Road W in the town of Wayne. Rev. Daniel Schultz officiated and burial was at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday in the church cemetery.
Relatives and friends called at the church on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services.
