Marian T. Schwinn

April 23, 1918 — May 24, 2011

Marian T. Schwinn, 93, entered God’s eternal Holy Land on Tuesday, May 24, 2011. Marian had been a resident of Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mt. Calvary for the past eight years.

She was born on April 23, 1918, in West Bend, the daughter of the late John and Teresa (Beck) Lang. She was employed by the B.C. Ziegler Company in West Bend for 34 years as an executive secretary. Marian was a member of the B. C. Ziegler Company 25-Year Club and an honorary member of the Washington County Secretaries Association.

Marian was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Michaels, the Altar Sodality and the Christian Women. She was an avid worker at the annual fall festival, Friday night fish fries and was always on call to clean the parish church.

On June 23, 1945, she was united in marriage to Arvin Schwinn at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend. Arvin preceded Marian in death on February 27, 2005.

A highlight in Marian’s life was a tour to Holland, Michigan along with her sister, Dolores to the Grand Tulip Festival. Marian loved tulips. She also enjoyed cooking, canning and her strawberry patch. Marian was very particular and made sure the house was clean, neat and tidy at all times. When Marian’s health deteriorated, she was asked what she would like to drink. She replied, “I’ll have a brandy old fashioned sweet!”

Those Marian leaves behind to cherish her memory include two children, Elizabeth (William) Ermer and Thomas (Linda) Schwinn both of West Bend; two grandsons, Paul (Tracy) Ermer and Peter (Amy) Ermer both of West Bend; two great-granddaughters, Brooklyn and Brynn Ermer of West Bend; three step-grandsons, Beau, Brady and Lance of West Bend; a brother-in-law, Willard (Rita) Schwinn of West Bend; a sister-in-law, Mildred Lang of West Bend, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Marian was preceded in death by a sister, Dolores Lang and a brother, John “Hans” Lang.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Marian was held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2011, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 8881 Forestview Road, Kewaskum (in St. Michaels). Father Edwin Kornath officiated and burial followed in St. John of God Catholic Cemetery in the town of Farmington.

Relatives and friends called at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.

The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum was entrusted with Marian’s arrangements.

Tom and Linda Schwinn would like to thank the Sister Servants of Christ the King and the staff of Villa Loretta Nursing Home for the excellent health care provided to Marian over the past eight years.
