Marie C. Behrens, 88, of Fremont, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2010, at the home of her niece in Kewaskum.
She was born on February 4, 1922, in Saukville, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Thill) Goschey, and in May 1949 she was united in marriage to Herbert Behrens. Her husband preceded her in death in March 1995.
Marie was employed by Allis Chalmers in Milwaukee retiring after many years of service. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Fremont and the Fremont Senior Center.
Those Marie leaves behind to cherish her memories include a stepson, Richard Behrens of Cedarburg; three sisters, Mathilda Rady of West Bend, Florence Rady of Kewaskum and Dolores Skalla of Milwaukee; a brother, George (Nancy) Goschey of West Bend; their adopted granddaughter, Bernadine (James) Scoville of Greenville; a step-grandson, Chris, 16 nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Marie was preceded in death by a brother, Arnold (Geraldine) Goschey; two sisters, Rose (Peter) Meunier and Adeline (George) Pfalz; three brothers-in-law, Emil Rady, Henry Rady and Robert Skalla and a nephew, Dennis Rady.
In honor of her wishes, cremation took place. A Memorial Service for Marie was held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 21, 2010, at the Lewin Funeral Home in Fremont with Rev. Gerhard Schapekahm officiating. Marie’s family received visitors at the Lewin Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m.
The family also received visitors at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield on Monday, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Inurnment followed.
