Marie W. Boothroyd, (nee Westphal), age 88, of West Bend, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2006 at SynergyHealth St. Joseph's Hospital, West Bend.
She was born on January 25, 1918 in Cambridge to the late Paul and Hattie (nee Wagner) Westphal. Marie graduated Salutatorian from Cambridge High School in the class of 1935. She then attended the University of Wisconsin and graduated in 1939 with a Degree in Commerce.
Marie was united in marriage to Russell Boothroyd on January 25, 1941 in Madison. Together they moved to the Milwaukee area and Marie held several part time jobs. She was an activities director for senior citizens, sales clerk for Marshall Fields at Mayfair Mall, and sold World Books.
In 1963 they moved back to Madison, where Marie was again active with senior citizens and in her church. They moved to Arkansas in 1980 after Russell retired, and then to West Bend in 1989.
Marie was an active member of Fifth Ave. United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing the piano. Marie will best be remembered as a family mother, always concerned, caring, and helping her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Marie is survived by her husband, Russell; two daughters, Susan (Norman) Loomer of Ripon, and Barbara (Jeff) Terry of Howell, MI; four grandchildren, David Loomer of Minneapolis, MN, Jonathan (Lisa) Loomer of Fanwood, NJ, Kathryn (Paul) Hauser of Grand Rapids, MI, and Bradley Terry of Grand Haven, MI; two great-grandsons, Michael and Ryan Loomer; a sister, Catherine (C. Reed) Parker of Glenview, IL; other relatives and many friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Marie's life will be held on Sunday, May 7th at 3:00 pm at the Fifth Ave. United Methodist Church (323 S. Fifth Ave.), West Bend. Rev. Jon Bartlett will officiate. Visitation will be at the church only on Sunday from 1:30 pm until the time of service. Burial of her cremated remains will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park in Janesville.
