Marie C. Gillmann, (nee Rogers), age 98, of West Bend, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at Hope Health & Rehabilitation Center in Lomira.
She was born on April 4, 1908 in Milwaukee to the late George and Celia Rogers. She was raised in Milwaukee and on October 8, 1934 Marie was united in marriage to Robert Gillmann in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death in 1957.
Marie spent her life working for the Internal Revenue Service in Milwaukee as a tax accountant, and after her retirement she continued working as a tax accountant for several businesses.
She moved to West Bend in 1996 and became a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church.
Through out the years Marie was an avid golfer. She also enjoyed bowling and all kinds of card games. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Marie could be seen working out in water aerobics class at the YMCA several times a week until she was 95.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Bastian of West Bend; seven grandchildren, Nancy (David) Wartman of Rohnert, CA, Cynthia (James) Bernal of West Bend, Sandra Harlan of Fond du Lac, Jeffery (Vicki) Bastian of Jackson, Robert (Dawn) Bastian of Kewaskum, Debra (Brian) Ruplinger of Kimberly, and Daniel (Krissy) Bastian of West Bend; 16 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joanne Spinharney; two sisters, Lucille Gross, and Esther Boughton; and a son-in-law, Harvey Bastian Jr.
Funeral services for Marie will be held on Tuesday February 6th at 12:00 (noon) at the Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral Home, West Bend. Rev. George Mumm will officiate and burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery in Milwaukee. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
