Marie M. Laatsch, 97, of Boltonville, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2009, at Cedar Lake Health Care Center in the town of West Bend.
She was born on May 14, 1912, in St. Michaels, the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Herriges) Uelmen, and on October 8, 1932, she was united in marriage to Lawrence H. Laatsch at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. Lawrence preceded Marie in death on May 19, 1989.
Marie was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Michaels. She enjoyed crocheting and playing cards, especially solitaire and sheepshead.
Those Marie leaves behind to cherish her memories include ten children, Myrna Laatsch and Donald Laatsch both of Boltonville, Eugene (Bette) Laatsch of Phoenix, Arizona, Eileen (Gerald) Yearling of Boltonville, Merle Laatsch of New Fane, Karen Radtke of West Bend, Ruth (Edwin) Boomer of Kewaskum, Carolyn (Walter) Landvatter of West Bend, Shirley (Mike) Ryan of Port Washington and Leon (Chris) Laatsch of Hartford; a daughter-in-law, Mary Laatsch of Kewaskum; a son-in-law, David Jung of the town of Kewaskum; a sister, Agnes Johann of Palmyra; a sister-in-law, Esther Uelmen of Crystal Lake, Illinois; a special friend, Ruth Mary Weber of Kewaskum, 31 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Marie was preceded in death by a son, Lloyd Laatsch; a daughter, Marilyn Jung; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Laatsch; three brothers, Alfred, Anthony and Joseph Uelmen and two sisters, Sally Gruel and Irene Dreher.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Marie was held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2009, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 8881 Forest View Road, Kewaskum, in St. Michaels. Burial was at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday in Boltonville Union Cemetery in Boltonville.
Relatives and friends called on Tuesday at the church from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services.
