Marilyn J. Muraski (nee Matenaer), age 73, of West Bend, was unexpectedly called home to be with the Lord at her residence on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
Marilyn was born on May 26, 1951 in West Bend to Francis and Elizabeth Matenaer (Hefter). She was united in marriage to Richard Muraski on June 30, 1979 at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church in West Bend.
Marilyn graduated from West Bend High School in 1969. She went on to earn her nursing degree at University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. Marilyn worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital, before pursuing her dream to become a nursing instructor at Moraine Park Technical College in West Bend. While she was teaching, she went on to achieve her Master’s Degree in Science of Nursing at UW-Oshkosh.
The role of her lifetime, one she truly treasured above all others, was to be a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her little piece of heaven was spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren. They made her heart full and complete. Affectionately known as Nana, Marilyn always made her “grandbabies” feel special and loved. Marilyn loved to crochet and was very active with the church. She also enjoyed singing, playing cards, and hosting gatherings with family and friends.
Those Marilyn leaves behind to cherish her memory include her husband of 45 years, Richard; three children, John (Laura) Muraski, Andrew (Tessa) Muraski, and AnneLissa (Nick) Gehring; seven grandchildren; and brother, Mark (the late Carol) Matenaer. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her sisters, Geralyn Matenaer and Donna Matenaer; infant brother, David Matenaer; and other dear friends and family.
