Marion L. Laufer

Marion L. Laufer, nee Brieske, 92, of West Bend, passed away on Tuesday March 11, 2014 at Kettle Moraine Gardens in Kewaskum.

She was born on November 5, 1921 in Batavia to the late Harvey and Elsie (nee Wegner) Brieske and she grew up on a farm in Batavia. Marion worked at West Bend Woolen Mills where she met her husband, Howard Laufer. They were united in marriage on May 22, 1943 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend. Together they farmed in the town of Trenton for many years and they were married for 68 years.

Marion was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend and she was an active member of the St. John’s Ladies Aid for many years. She loved to cook, bake, and garden.

She is survived by four children, Kenneth (Mary) Laufer Sr. of Fond du Lac, Sharon (Henry) Tesker of West Bend, Christine (James) Hundertmark of Fond du Lac, and Keith (Nancy) Laufer of West Bend; 10 grandchildren, Kenneth (Ginger) Laufer Jr. of West Bend, Kevin (Kristine) Laufer of West Allis, Kirk (Amy) Laufer of Gilbert, AZ, John Tesker of Germantown, Steven (Shelly) Tesker of Campbellsport, Nicole Hundertmark of Las Vegas, NV, Susan (Luke) Murtha of Fond du Lac, Andrew Laufer of West Bend, Ryan (Stephanie) Laufer of West Bend, and Dana (Michael) Lechner of West Bend; 10 great-grandchildren, Brett, Kayla, Dylan, Jackson, Annika, Sarah, Brooke, Diesel, Trenton and Hunter; a sister-in-law, Evangeline Brieske of St. Petersburg, FL; cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Violet Brieske, and a brother, Roger Brieske.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 17 at 11:00 am at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 809 S. 6th Ave., West Bend, with Rev. David Kellerman officiating. Burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
