Marion Martha Schacht, (nee Jung), age 86, of West Bend passed away peacefully with her family at her side February 21st, 2015 at the Lighthouse of West Bend.

She was born on January 14, 1929 in Barton, WI to Herbert and Flora Jung (nee Basler). Through baptism, she became a member of God's family on January 16th, 1929, performed by Pastor William Weber at their home. On April 18, 1943 Marion was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, by Rev. Waldemar P. Sauer. She attended Barton Grade School, St. John's Lutheran School and was a member of the West Bend High School graduating class of 1948. Marion met Vernon A. Schacht on New Year's Eve, 1950. Upon Vernon's return from service, they married on April 11, 1953 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend with Pastor Sauer presiding.

Marion worked at Sears, the Public Library in West Bend, and Dr. Grundahl's medical office prior to her marriage. In subsequent years, she worked briefly at Line Material and then for the better part of 25 years at Schloemer, Schlaefer and Alderson Law office. Marion was a life-long member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, being active in Ladies Guild, Ladies Aid and for more than 60 years a member of the various church choirs. Throughout the years she was a soloist for many weddings, funerals and church services and was a member of the Moraine Chorus. She also was a member of the Fred A. Schaefer VFW Post # 1393 Ladies Aux.

She took great pride in tending a large family vegetable garden and generously shared the harvest with friends and family. In addition to a life-long interest in music, Marion turned devotion to family into a passion for genealogy and the chronicling of the history of West Bend as a volunteer at the Washington County Historical Society. Marion loved travel and did so with her children across the country and to Europe. At the Lighthouse, she always looked forward to playing scrabble and sheepshead with her friends. Marion was also an avid fan of Sam Dekker and the Wisconsin Badgers Men's Basketball Team. She could talk Badger Basketball with the best of them, and everyone knew that you never bothered her when the Badgers were playing.

Marion is survived by her four children, Brian (Mary Ann) Schacht, Vivian Moller, Yvonne (Dan) Immel, and Darren Schacht (Larry Engel); grandchildren, Tara Schacht, Brian Immel, and Elizabeth (Tim) Philipp; a great-grandson, Anthony Schacht-Chase; brother, Gerald (Lois) Jung; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Bindrich, and Shirley (Armand) Becker; twin brothers-in-law Lyle (Marlene) Schacht, and Lloyd (Ruby) Schacht; dear friend Bernice Strauch, other relatives and many friends.
