Martha (Guenther) Petri

Martha Petri (nee Gúenther), 87, of Kewaskum, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, with her daughter by her side.

She was born on August 19, 1935, to the late Anton and Emilie (nee Czernik) Gúenther in Grundmeullen, CZ. Her family fled to Germany during World War II. On November 23, 1957, she was united in marriage to Earl Petri in Núrnberg-Fúrth, Germany. They then moved back to West Bend, WI. Martha worked at Amity Leather Products in West Bend for 38 years until retiring in 1996. She loved animals, always taking care of injured animals. Martha enjoyed fishing and photography. Together Martha and Earl enjoyed attending the EAA Air Show in Oshkosh with their nephew Paul Petri every year. She was a social butterfly, always talking to people. Martha especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be missed by all who knew her.

Those Martha leaves behind to cherish her memory include her daughter, Cheryl “Cheri” Ann Moats of Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Jim (Judy) Andrews of Neenah, Joshua Moats of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and Jacob (Dominique) Moats of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; two great-grandchildren, Jay-Lah and Jayshawn; a sister-in-law, Eileen Petri of Kewaskum; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Petri; two sisters-in-law, Doris (Tommy) Kluever and Ione (Lee) Honeck; and three brothers-in-law, Myron (Bernice) Petri, John (Lucille) Petri, and Bruce Petri,

A Funeral Service in remembrance of Martha will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum.  Father Jacob Strand will officiate and cremation will follow the traditional service.

Martha's family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Washington County Humane Society in Martha’s name are appreciated by the family.
