Mary L. Ketelhohn (Marquardt), age 85 years, of Mayville, was called home to be with the Lord on March 31, 2024.
Mary was born on April 12, 1938 in Marshfield to Frederick and Meta Marquardt (Bahn). Mary was raised on a small farm outside of Athens, WI and graduated from Athens High School in 1956. She then relocated to Fox Lake, where she met Merle C. Ketelhohn. They were united in marriage on May 25, 1957. They raised six children together. Mary attended many of her children’s and grandchildren’s activities throughout the years. Mary was a school bus driver for the Mayville School District for 40 years, retiring July 5, 2006. She spent many hours on word searches and jigsaw puzzles.
Those Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory include her six children, Fred (Lee Ann) Ketelhohn, Bob Ketelhohn, Brenda (Dan) Syvrud, Carl (Jolene) Ketelhohn, Paul Ketelhohn, and John Ketelhohn; five grandchildren, Jason (Sarah) Syvrud, Trista (Andrew) Heffner, Derek (Madeline) Ketelhohn, Nicole (Mike) Leahy, and Rachelle Ketelhohn; five great-grandchildren, Ruby Syvrud, Raylan Syvrud, Allayna Heffner, David Heffner, and Owen Leahy; sisters-in-law, June Sumnicht, Claudette (Harold) Spolum, and Jo Kurth; a brother-in-law, Adrian (Mary) Kurth; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Merle; daughter-in-law, Anola Ketelhohn (nee Hahn); grandson, Jaimey Syvrud; two great-granddaughters, Torrey Syvrud and Evelyn Syvrud; two sisters, Dorothy (Edwin) Schultz and Marion (Edward) Kalepp; brother, Donald (Margaret) Marquardt; sisters-in-law, Lois (Bob) James, JoAnn (Junior) Rau and Susie Kurth; and brothers-in-law, Junior Sumnicht, Lawrence Ketelhohn, Leslie (Evon) Ketelhohn, and John Kurth.
A memorial service in remembrance of Mary will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service, 15 S. Walnut St., Mayville with Pastor Dave Ritchie officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m.
