Mary M. Leege, 77, of West Bend, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the town of Polk.
She was born on June 1, 1934, in Madison, the daughter of the late Alfred and Helen (Berg) Koltes, and on November 26, 1960, she was united in marriage to James Leege at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Milwaukee.
Mary was a teacher for the Milwaukee Public School System and later a stay-at-home mom when Jim and Mary started their family.
Mary was a member of St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church in West Bend, a seasonal visitor at St. Mary's of the Lake Catholic Church in Lakewood and a former church choir member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Milwaukee.
She loved to read, enjoyed creative writing, crossword puzzles, diet Coke and times with family at their cottage on Bass Lake in Lakewood. Mary will fondly be remembered for her great sense of humor. She will be deeply missed by her husband, her family and by all who knew her.
Those Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory include her husband, James; three children, Jeanine (Tony) Leege-Jankowski of Neenah, Joe (Jeanne) Leege of Appleton and Teresa (Ed) Meltz of Kewaskum; a sister, Nancy (Donald) Hoesley of LaCrosse; six grandchildren, Alec, Erika, Kalyn, Meredith, Vincent and Rebecca, other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary was held at noon on Monday, November 21, 2011, at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church, 1025 S. 7th Avenue in West Bend. Father Jerry Repenshek officiated and burial was in St. Mary's of the Lake Catholic Cemetery in the town of Lakewood on Tuesday.
Relatives and friends called at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum was entrusted with Mary’s arrangements.
Mary’s family extends their heartfelt appreciation to members of the West Bend Rescue Squad, the staff of St. Joseph’s Hospital Emergency Room and Intensive Care Unit staff for the care provided to Mary.
