Mary T. Schaub

Mary T. Schaub, 84, of Long Lake, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Ivy Manor in Campbellsport, with her husband and family at her side.


She was born on September 19, 1924, in Milwaukee, the daughter of the late Frank and Josephine (Lansky) Slesar, and on October 8, 1949, she was united in marriage to Homer Schaub at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum.


The West Bend Company in West Bend employed Mary for seven years. She worked as a bookkeeper for Koch’s Store in Kewaskum for a few years and later worked at Amity Leather Company in West Bend, retiring in 1987, after 15 years of service.


Mary served as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader for many years. She enjoyed growing roses and entered her Peace roses at the Washington County Fair, where she won several blue ribbons. Activities she enjoyed included cake decorating, crocheting, reading, playing sheepshead, golfing and fishing. After retirement, Mary and Homer would enjoy occasional day trips to the casino.


Mary was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum, the Holy Trinity Christian Women and the Rosary Making Club. Over the years, Mary made thousands of rosaries that were donated to missions. Mary will fondly be remembered by all the family and friends she taught to water ski on Long Lake. Mary touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by her husband, her family and by all who knew her.


Survivors include her devoted husband of 59 years, Homer; four children, Jean (Ken) Crass and Judy (Mark) Biertzer both of West Bend, Jim (Tracey) Schaub and Jenny (Dan) Schroeder both of Kewaskum; a brother, Frank (Rosemary) Slesar of West Bend; eight grandchildren, Sara Crass (special friend, Jason Hull), Kelly Crass, Gabe (Elisa) Biertzer, Ali (Aaron) Christ, Luke Biertzer, Tanner Schaub, Matt Schroeder and Katie Schroeder; a great-granddaughter, Clara Christ, other relatives and many friends.


In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph (Lorraine) Slesar.


A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary was held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 331 Main Street in Kewaskum. Father Jerome Repenshek officiated and cremation followed the traditional service. Burial of her cremains was at 10:00 a.m. on Friday in Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend.


Relatives and friends called on Wednesday at the church from 4:00 p.m. until the time of Mass.
