Matthew "Matt" J. Bowen

Matthew J. Bowen, 50, of Jackson passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 1, 2024.

He was born on January 15, 1974, to James and Virginia (nee Fink) Bowen in Brookfield, WI.

Above all, Matt was a devoted father to his two daughters, Ava and Sophia. His pride in them was immeasurable, and he often spoke of their accomplishments with a sparkle in his eye. He was the quintessential “girl dad” coaching Ava in soccer, trying to draw with Sophia, watching My Little Pony and playing dress up. Quoting their favorite movie lines became a welcomed part of everyday life.

Known for his quick wit and unparalleled sense of humor, Matt could light up any room with his laughter and charm. His playful spirit and humorous outlook on life were contagious, making even the mundane moments memorable.

An avid online gamer, Matt found joy and camaraderie in his Monday night gaming crew. This group of friends was an essential part of his life, providing countless hours of entertainment and friendship.

He spent innumerable hours playing the drums, fiddling with the guitar, and playing with our beloved dogs.

Matt’s memory will forever be cherished by his daughters, family, and friends. His legacy of love, laughter, and passion for life will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

Those Matt leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Kristin Bowen; two daughters, Ava and Sophia Bowen; two sisters, Lynda Bowen and Monica (Carl) Cerletty; a brother, Larry (Pam) Bowen; his parents, James “Jim” and Virginia Bowen; two sisters-in-law, Tammy (Tom) Ruh-Mertens and Kelly Ruh; mother-in-law, Annette (Rich) Jacque; nieces, Lauren, Olivia, Sophie, and Isa; nephew, Xavier; other relatives and friends.

Matt is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ralph and Evelyn Fink; paternal grandparents, Clifford and Ethel Bowen; and father-in-law, Bob Ruh.

VISITATION: Matt’s family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:15 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service, 1315 W. Washington St., West Bend.

SERVICE: A memorial service will follow the visitation at the funeral home at 3:30 p.m.
