Maurice F. “Maurie” Struebing, 71, of Kewaskum, passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the town of Polk.
He was born on June 17, 1938, in the town of Ashford, the son of the late Elmer and Ludmilla (Mathieu) Struebing, and on August 13, 1960, he was united in marriage to Audrey Amerling at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum.
Maurie served his country in the U. S. Army National Guard serving at Fort Lewis with the 32nd Red Arrow Division in Tacoma, Washington from 1961 to 1962. He was employed by the West Bend Company in West Bend for 11 years before he became an electrical journeyman with the Reissmann Electric Company in West Bend. After he became a master electrician, Maurie started his own electrical business, M. Struebing Electric, which he operated from 1979 until his retirement in 1997.
Maurie was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum, the Kewaskum Sportsman’s Club, where he held an officer position, and was a charter member of the Kewaskum Snow Chiefs.
Maurie will fondly be remembered for the enjoyment he received from snowmobiling, camping and after retirement, wintering in warmer climates, especially in Florida.
Those Maurie leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 49 years, Audrey; a sister, Genevieve (Jacob) Fell of West Bend; five brothers-in-law, Allen (Jeanne) Amerling, Jim McChain, Ronald (Joanne) Amerling and David (Cindy) Amerling all of Kewaskum and Dale (Bonnie) Amerling of Campbellsport; a special nephew, Jeff (Candy) McChain, a special niece, Connie McChain, many other nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Maurie was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Gloria McChain and his parents-in-law, Arnold and Cordell Amerling.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Maurie was held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2010, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 331 Main Street in Kewaskum with Father Edwin Kornath officiating. Military honor rites performed by members of the Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384 Kewaskum followed Mass and entombment was at 10:00 a.m. on Friday in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Fond du Lac.
Relatives and friends called on Thursday at the church from 4:00 p.m. until the time of Mass.
