Mavis Gerhardt

July 19, 1930 — September 20, 2009

Mavis L. Gerhardt, (nee Schrank), age 79, of West Bend, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital in the town of Polk.

She was born on July 19, 1930 in Coloma, WI to the late Clarence and Lena (nee Danner) Schrank. Mavis moved to Allenton with her family during her freshman year and graduated from West Bend High School in the class of 1948. On February 10, 1951, she was united in marriage to Richard Gerhardt at Trinity Lutheran church in West Bend.

Mavis' family was very important to her. She enjoyed sewing and sewed her children's clothes. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and flower gardening.

Mavis is survived by her husband, Richard; four children, Susan (Steve) Ruppel, of Appleton, Barbara (Michael) Tyree, of West Bend, Jean (David) Gardipee of West Bend, and Mary Gerhardt of Sheboygan Falls; 13 grandchildren, Rick (Nikki) Gamble, Carolyn (Tim) Wanamaker, Joe (Jackie) Ruppel, Jordan Ruppel, Jeremy Ruppel, Andrea Barringer, Craig Barringer, Paul Tyree, Josh Tyree, Carla Dreher, Eric Dreher, Matthew Gardipee and Rebecca Neitzel; one great-grandson, Isaac Gamble; one sister, Delores (Ernie) Hippe; three nieces, Stacy Carlson, Alison Santoro and Shelly Kolls; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and son-in-law, Robin Barringer.

A memorial service in remembrance of Mavis will be held on Friday, September 25th at 3:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church (140 N. 7th Avenue) in West Bend with Rev. David Schoob officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 1:00 pm until the time of the service. Inurnment will take place in Washington County Memorial Park. Cremation took place at Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral & Cremation Service.

Memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church are appreciated by the family.

The family would like to extend a thank you to Dr. Mosely, Dr. Smale, the ICU and 3rd floor nursing staff at St. Joseph's Hospital for the loving care they provided Mavis.
