Melva V. Labisky, (nee Zimmel) age 91, of West Bend, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2008, at SynergyHealth St. Joseph's Hospital.
She was born on November 17, 1916 on the family homestead farm in the Town of Wayne, to the late Alfred and Ella (nee Justman) Zimmel. Melva attended St. John's Christian Day School and later graduated from West Bend High School in the class of 1935. She then started working as a stenographer at the First National Bank and later at the West Bend Company until her marriage. On February 19, 1941 Melva was united in marriage to Edmund "Bud" Labisky at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend.
Melva had been an active member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, St. John's Guild, Guild Choir, and Guild Bridge Club. She was a former member of the West Bend Country Club, and the West Bend Women's Club.
She was the Vice President of her husband Bud's Company, West Bend Screw Machine Company, and after Bud's death in 1984; Melva became President of the Company.
She is survived by three daughters, Kay (James) Bolick of Bellvue, CO, Lynn Meyer of Gainesville, FL, and Jane (Dale) Reilley of Singer Island, FL; six grandchildren, Aaron and Jennifer Bolick, Sarah and Andrew Nowicki, Patrick and Michael Reilley; Other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Norma Kocker and Verna Koch; along with a brother, Webster "Webby" Zimmel.
Funeral services to remember Melva will be held on Monday, February 4th at 11:00 am at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church (809 S. 6th Ave.). Rev. George Mumm will officiate. Visitation will be Monday at the church only from 10:00 am until the time of service. Memorials to Friendship House at Cedar Community are appreciated.
