Melvin L. Kluever, 79, of West Bend, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2013, at Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Port Washington.
He was born on January 17, 1933, in West Bend, the son of the late Clarence and Myrtle (Schultz) Kluever and stepson of the late Norma (Knoebel) Kluever. The family moved to Kewaskum where he attended grade school and graduated from Kewaskum High School in 1950. He graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin Madison in 1955. He then began a nearly 40 year career with Regal Ware in Kewaskum, where he became Chief Engineer, before retiring in 1994. On October 18, 1958, he was united in marriage to Rachel Petermann at Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum and the couple made their home in West Bend.
Melvin was an active member of Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum and then Immanuel United Church of Christ in West Bend, before returning to Peace Church. He was also a member of the Regal Ware 25-Year Club. After retirement, Melvin volunteered at the Washington County Historical Society and played with the River City Irregulars, a community band in West Bend.
Those Melvin leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Rachel; two children, Richard (Karen) Kluever of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Barbara (Bruce) Loomans of Oshkosh; five grandchildren, David, Michael and Phillip Kluever, Brynna and Devin Loomans; a sister Elaine (Earl) Klabunde of Milwaukee; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Kluever of Shawano; other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and step-mother, Melvin was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Raymond (Marianne) Kluever; three brothers-in-law, Orville (Marion) Petermann, Oliver (Mary Ann) Petermann and Ronald (Sharon) Petermann and a sister-in-law, Marion (Ralph) Erdmann.
A memorial service for Melvin was held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2013, at Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum with Rev. Eric Kirkegaard officiating. Inurnment included a private family service at Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend.
The family greeted guests at the church on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum was entrusted with Melvin’s arrangements.
