Merle W. Boos, 89, of West Bend, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Kathy Hospice, West Bend.
He was born on January 7, 1929 to the late Clarence and Ellen (nee Johnson) Boos in Lockridge, Iowa. On Dec 4, 1949, he was united in marriage to Gladys Speirs in Ottumwa, Iowa. It was his lifelong learning to serve the Lord that brought Merle to Incarnation Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Through his continued work and service in the Church, he was chosen as the Director of Rural Ministries for LCA and ELCA. Shortly following his retirement in 1993, Merle received an honorary degree of Doctor of Divinity from Wartburg Seminary. He continued to be active in the church at Trinity Lutheran where he headed his very popular bible study group with his unique and powerful ability to reach each individual.
Those Merle leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 69 years, Gladys Boos; three children, Charles Boos, Lois Haase, and James (Elizabeth) Boos; four grandsons, Andrew, Justin, William, and Samuel; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Marjorie (Hobart) Fitzgerald and his brother, Roger (Natalie) Boos.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 140 N. 7th St., West Bend. Private family burial.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service.
Memorials to Trinity Lutheran church or Wartburg Theological Seminary in Merle’s name is appreciated by the family.
