Meta A. Schumacher, nee Barth, age 92, of West Bend, died Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Riverway Place in West Bend. She was born on January 10, 1919 in West Bend to the late Walter and Julia (nee Richter) Barth. On January 11, 1944 Meta was united in marriage to Erich Schumacher in Crown Point, IN. Together they owned and operated Schumacher Landscaping in West Bend where she worked as a secretary. Meta also helped her parents with the apple orchard and garden. She loved gardening, fishing and feeding the deer. She also enjoyed the friendship of Chevy the dog. She is survived by her son, Robert (Pamela) Schumacher of West Bend; two grandsons, Scott Schumacher and Jamie Schumacher, both of West Bend; a sister, Ruth Richter of West Bend; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Bruhn and Clarissa Schumacher, both of Kansas City, KS, and Ethel Schumacher-Hofferman of West Bend; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mildred Rosenthal-Kochansky; three sisters-in-law, Lorina, Myrtle and Neoma; and two brothers-in-law, Arnold and Howard. Funeral services in remembrance of Meta will be held on Monday November 7th at 7:00 p.m. at the Myrhum - Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington Street, West Bend, with Rev. David Nothem officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services. Burial will be on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend. Memorials to the Washington County Humane Society are appreciated.
