Michael R. "Schmitty" Schmitz, age 24, of West Bend, passed away on Saturday April 16, 2011 at his residence.
He was born on July 19, 1986 in West Bend to Richard and Janet (nee Smith) Schmitz. Growing up Michael enjoyed playing little league and participating in taekwondo. He attended West Bend West High School and graduated in 2004. Michael loved being outdoors any chance he could. As an adult, he loved snowboarding at Sunburst where he worked in the winter, and playing softball in the summer. Michael also liked playing the guitar. He was currently employed at Advanced Coatings in West Bend.
Michael is survived by his parents, Richard and Janet Schmitz; his sister, Theresa Schmitz and her boy friend Matt Sullivan; his sponsors, Joan Schreier and Reed Smith; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Raymond and Frances Schmitz and maternal grandparents, Raymond and Anna Smith.
Funeral Services in remembrance of Michael will be held on Thursday, April 21st at 12:00 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington Street, West Bend with Dan Schroeder officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. with a rosary service at 7:00 p.m. and Thursday at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
