Mildred D. Darmody

Mildred D. Darmody, (Nee Ahlers), 83, of West Bend, passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2004, at Virginia Highlands Health & Rehabilitation Center in Germantown.

She was born on April 17, 1921 in the town of Trenton to the late Edwin and Pauline (Nee Illian) Ahlers and was united in marriage to Clyde Darmody on December 8, 1945 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend.

Mildred had worked at the West Bend Company and Enger Kress but was best known for owning and operating Honey Grove Ice Cream Company with her husband, Clyde.

Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Mildred was a member of Pilgrim Ev. Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband Clyde; Four children, Kenneth (Sue) Darmody of Kewaskum, Cheryl (Don) Thill of West Bend, Keith (Connie) Darmody of West Bend, and Kim (Kandie) Darmody of Edmond, OK; Ten grandchildren, Stacey (Greg) Hockett, Michael (Shelley) Darmody, Kelly Darmody, Tina (Heath) Wiskirchen, Nicholus Thill, Stephanie (FiancAC. Dan Helle) Darmody, Amanda (Jared) Winship, Casey (Todd) Kunard, Matthew Darmody, and Witney Darmody; A great-grandson, Tyler Winship; Four step-grandchildren, Laura (Russ) Westergaard, Lisa Bastian, Katie (Tony) Singer, Kara (Ryan) Schaefer; Five step-great-grandchildren, Jordan Singer, Abby Singer, Jeremy Wester, C.J. Schaefer, and Riley Schaefer; Two sisters, Margaret Ahlers of West Bend, and Joanne (Vernon) Moths of Hales Corners; Two sisters-in-law, Blanche Hawig and Hazel Weinand; Three brothers-in-law, Wesley (Pearl) Darmody, Jerry (Marion) Darmody, and Walter (Vivian) Bartelt; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Ahlers and two brothers-in-law, Wilmer Hawig and Eugene Weinand.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday August 22 at 4:00 p.m. at Pilgrim Ev. Lutheran Church, West Bend, with Rev. Joseph Fisher officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of Service. Burial will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. in Washington County Memorial Park.
