Mildred E. Endlich, nee Wichinski, 95, of West Bend, passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2004 at Cedar Community in West Bend.
She was born on Aug. 27, 1909 in Beaver Dam, WI to the late Joseph and Emma (nee Wiese) Wichinski. She attended elementary schools in Beaver Dam, WI, Brantford, Ontario, Canada, and Berlin, WI. She graduated from Berlin High School and Green Lake County Normal School. She was a teacher at several Washington County schools from 1929 to 1936. She then attended Business College in Milwaukee and was employed as a bookkeeper at Huebsch Laundry and Dry-Cleaners and then at Chris Hansen's Laboratory, both in Milwaukee.
On July 10, 1946 Mildred was united in marriage to Louis Endlich in Allenton. They moved to West Bend where they both lived until their deaths. Her husband preceded her in death on June 30, 1983.
Mildred was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in West Bend, where she was a member of the choir, Women's Guild, and she also served on the consistory and various committees. She was a member and past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star West Bend Chapter #73. She was a member of the West Bend Women's Club, West Bend Art Museum, Church Women United of Washington County, and the Washington County Historical Society. Mildred was also an active volunteer at Cedar Community for over 30 years.
She is survived by her godson, Mark (Wendy) Hoefert of West Bend, other relatives and many delightful neighbors, friends, and a very special friend, Marlene Brusky, of Gemini Helping Hands who provided two years of in-home assistance, companionship, and comfort.
Mildred was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Wichinski and his wife Eleanor Wichinski, and a sister-in-law, Rose Justman (nee Endlich) and her husband, Royal Justman.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 27 at Immanuel United Church of Christ, West Bend, with an Order of the Eastern Star service at 1:30 p.m. in the church library, immediately followed by the funeral service in the sanctuary. Rev. Sharon Stier will officiate and burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services.
Memorials are appreciated to the Cedar Community or a charity of the donor's choice.
Those who were involved with Mildred's care extend a special note of appreciation to Dr. Smale and Nurse Jenny of West Bend Clinic/Synergy Health for their community based care and extra attention that respected Mildred's desire to live independently for so long in her own home.
