Milfred E. Schneiter

Milfred E. Schneiter, 80, of Lomira, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Mayville.


He was born on December 1, 1932, in Knowles, the son of the late Ernst and Hilda (Schwartz) Schneiter, and on August 25, 1956, he was united in marriage to Lillian Brinkman at Zion Lutheran Church in Kohlsville.


Milfred served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and later hauled milk for Gourme Cheese Factory and he was employed a short time at Blue Bank Mill. Later he worked at Grande Cheese Factory in Brownsville, retiring in 1998 after 32 years of service. Milfred was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lomira and Bintzler-Waehler American Legion Post 347 Lomira.

Milfred enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved gardening, train sets, puzzle books and playing cards. He was also very good at math and was very good at remembering birth dates. He also knew many families around the LeRoy area. He enjoyed watching the Wheel of Fortune and wrestling.


Those Milfred leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 56 years, Lillian; five children, Marilyn Boswell of North Fond du Lac, Lucille Hein (special friend, Paul Resch) of Manitowoc, Darlene (Lee) Mangan of Slinger, Gregory Schneiter of Neenah and Michael Schneiter of Two Rivers; five brothers, Norman Schneiter of Glenbeulah, Orville (Pat) Schneiter of Lomira, James Schneiter of Horicon, Jay Schneiter (special friend, Sheila) of Oconto Falls and Kenneth Schneiter of Iron Ridge; three sisters, Lillian Wondra of Mayville, Geraldine (William) Zirbel of Iron Ridge, Georgiann Schneiter of Waupun; two brothers-in-law, Raymond Brinkman of North Fond du Lac and Gerald Stern of Kewaskum; four grandchildren, Elliott (Sonya) Boswell of Ashippun, Emily Boswell of North Fond du Lac, Anna Boswell (special friend, Albert Dehler) of Fond du Lac and Andrew Hein of Manitowoc; a great-grandson, Albert Dehler IV of Fond du Lac; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Schneiter of West Bend, other relatives and friends.


In addition to his parents, Milfred was preceded in death by two brothers, Maynard (Vi) and Gerald Schneiter; a sister, Donna Mae Stern; a niece, Deanna Schneiter; four sisters-in-law, Lorraine Schneiter, Marjorie Schneiter, Dr. Bernice Brinkman and Florence Schneiter; a brother-in-law, Earl Wondra and his in-laws, Albert and Magdalena Brinkman.


Funeral services for Milfred were held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lomira. Rev. Dan Schmidt officiated and burial, with military honor rites, followed in Theresa Union Cemetery in Theresa.


The Schneiter family greeted relatives and friends at the church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services.


The Kietzer-Miller Funeral Home in Lomira was entrusted with Milfred’s arrangements.
