Muriel Titus Fleming

Muriel T. Fleming, (nee Titus), age 93, of West Bend, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2007, on the day that would have been her 69th wedding anniversary, at the Kathy Hospice in the Town of Polk.

She was born on June 27, 1913 in Paterson, NJ, to the late Walter and Florence (nee Mills) Titus. Following her high school graduation she became a secretary for a bank on Wall Street in New York City. Muriel was united in marriage to James Edward Fleming on February 12, 1938. Together they raised three children in Wyckoff, NJ. James passed away on February 14, 1973. In 1999 Muriel moved from New Jersey to West Bend to live with her daughter Bev and family. She spent many happy years in Wisconsin enjoying her family and the love that they gave her. She was the consummate lady and the world's best mother-in-law. Muriel enjoyed being outside in her garden, and she also enjoyed sewing, baking, and was an incessant reader. She was blessed with a gift of service and enjoyed sharing her gift through countless hours of volunteer work with the Women's Club of Wyckoff, NJ. Muriel will also be remembered for her love of hot fudge sundaes and chocolate chip cookies.

Muriel is survived by three children, James W. (Vicki) Fleming of Lake Tomahawk, Bev (Don) Smith of West Bend, and Jane (Dave) Hitchcoff of Montville, NJ; eight grandchildren, Jamey and Lissy Fleming, Jason (Lindsay) Gould, Dan Smith, and Amy, Jeff, Michael and Alison Hitchcoff; a sister, E. Jean Paterson of Pahoa, HI; and a niece, E. Jean Paterson of Pahoa, HI.

Muriel was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

A memorial service in celebration of Muriel's life will be held on Saturday, February 17, at 2:00 pm at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home in West Bend. Pastor Mike Moran of Kettlebrook Church in West Bend will officiate. Visitation with the family will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 pm until the time of the service and a reception gathering will follow the memorial service.
