Myron F. “Cisco” Backhaus, age 82, of West Bend, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at SynergyHealth St. Joseph’s Hospital in the town of Polk.
He was born on March 17, 1924 in Kewaskum, the son of the late Herman and Elsie (Backhaus) Backhaus, and on December 27, 1957, he was united in marriage to Gertrude deLorme at Holy Innocence’s Catholic Church in Manitowoc.
Myron was employed by the Gehl Company in West Bend for 26 years and was a member of the Hexelbank Club. Following his retirement from the Gehl Company, Myron did various jobs at Hon-E-Kor Golf and Country Club in Kewaskum, and he was a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum.
Myron was the proud grandfather of two grandsons and will be deeply missed by his wife, his family and by all who knew him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Gertrude; two children, Mark Backhaus of West Bend and Kristin Backhaus of Gillette, Wyoming; two grandsons, Brett and Brady Backhaus; a brother, Victor (Rose Marie) Backhaus of Kewaskum; a sister, Lucille Butzke of West Bend, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frederick and Carl (Beulah) Backhaus and a brother-in-law, Elroy Butzke.
Myron’s funeral service was held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2006 at Peace United Church of Christ, 343 First Street, Kewaskum. Rev. Eric Kirkegaard officiated and cremation followed. Burial of his cremains was 2:00 p.m. on Saturday in Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend.
Relatives and friends called on Thursday at the church from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services.
