Nora H. Backhaus, 69, of the town of Barton, passed on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at St. Joseph's Hospital, West Bend.
She was born on October 29, 1945 to the late Everette and AngAC.le (nee Lanssens) Taylor in Rue De Lidustrie, Belgium. Her family came to the United States when she was 2 months old. She went to Old Brick School (Handke) - District 1, in the township of Farmington as a child. She graduated from Kewaskum high school in 1964, and went onto beautician school in Milwaukee. On September 24, 1966 she was united in marriage to Donald Backhaus at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, West Bend. She was a member of the St. John's quilters and the Washington County homemakers. She enjoyed going up to their cabin up north in Bayfield County, in the town of Barnes. She liked sewing, quilting, knitting, gardening and babysitting many children over the years. She also enjoyed fishing, baking and cake decorating. She was always helping others, never said no.
She is survived by her two children, Dale Backhaus of Kewaskum and Linda (fiancAC.e Joe Jeske) Backhaus of West Bend; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Roesel, Jacob Jeske, and Jesse Jeske; two sisters, Cora Taylor of West Bend and Lillian (Dennis) Seitz of Omro; brother, Mark Taylor of West Bend; brother in law, Howard Dehn; other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Backhaus; sister, Vivian Dehn, and niece, Bonnie Taylor.
A funeral service in remembrance of Nora will be held on Friday January 16, 2015 at 7:00 pm at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, 809 S. 6th Ave, West Bend. Visitation will be at the church Friday from 4:00 pm until the time of service. Burial will be on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Washington County Memorial Park at 10:00 am.
