Norbert J. Serwe, 71, of Kewaskum, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2008, at Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk.
He was born on February 4, 1937, in Campbellsport, the son of the late Mathias and Frances (Volz) Serwe, and on May 20, 1961, he was united in marriage to Gloria Jean Koepke at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Campbellsport. Norbert and Gloria were the owners and operators of Serwe’s Tap in Kewaskum from 1964 until retiring in 1983.
Norbert proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy and was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in the town of Wayne. He will be deeply missed by his wife, his family and by all who knew him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Gloria; five children, Charlie (Sharon) Serwe of West Bend, Rochelle “Shelly” (Les) Pennington and Brenda (David) Roehrig both of Campbellsport, Amy Lynn (Jason) Gauthier and Joel (April) Serwe both of Kewaskum; 11 grandchildren, Austin, Aaron and Lucas Serwe, Nicholas (Katie) Pennington, Erica (Robert) Stoltz, Samuel, Ella and Kathleen Gauthier, Hunter and Megan Roehrig and Holden Serwe; a great-granddaughter, Sophia Stoltz; his twin brother, Norman (Sally) and his brothers, Frank (Pat), Mathias (Janet) and Cyril (Pat) Serwe all of Campbellsport; three sisters, Virginia Ruf of Florissant, Missouri, JoAnn Galligan of Eden and Kathy (Ralph) Herriges of Kewaskum, many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Norbert was preceded in death by three sisters, Catherine Serwe, Rosemary Sether and Jeanette Gruber and two brothers, Sylvester and Gerald Serwe.
Funeral services for Norbert were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 27, 2008, at Salem United Church of Christ, 8925 County Highway W, Campbellsport (in the town of Wayne) with Rev. Daniel Schultz and Rev. Jason Coulter officiating. Burial, with military honor rites by the Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384 Kewaskum, followed in the church cemetery.
