Norman O. Geidel, age 80, of Newburg, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Columbia St. Mary's Hospital in Milwaukee.
He was born on March 16, 1931 in Parkston, SD to Fred and Alma Geidel. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea. After his discharge Norman began working as a carpenter for Fred Geidel and Son's, later named Geidel Brothers. From 1979 to 1988, he also co-owned Geidel's Hardware Hank in Newburg.
On September 17, 1955, he was united in marriage to Lucille Degnitz at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Random Lake. Norman was a member of the church board at St. John's Lutheran Church in Newburg and a Lutheran Boy Pioneer Leader. Norman enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, bowling, sheepshead, and especially spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Geidel of Newburg; five children, Karen Ramthun of West Bend, Larry Geidel of Newburg, David (Wendy) Geidel of Newburg and Nancy (Dave) Carow of Appleton, and Carol (Pat) Lyons of Hayward; Fifteen grandchildren, Marcia (Dr. Chad) Tamez, Stacy Reuter, Laura (Travis) Luedtke, Sarah (Jamie) Severance, Douglas (fiancAC.e Shaelynn Holmes) Ramthun, Becka Ramthun, Dominique (Keith) Heberer, Danielle Corlette, Bo Shaw, Shannon (fiancAC. Tyler Reschke) Shaw, Chris (Robin) Carow, Greg (fiancAC.e Olivia) Carow, Jackie Carow, Madalyn Lyons and Hunter Lyons; Twelve great-grandchildren, one sister, Elaine (Douglas) Koenig of Schofield; three brothers, Willard (Ruth) Geidel of Fristead, Raymond (Liz) Geidel of West Bend, and Ronald (Sharon) Geidel of West Bend; two sisters-in-law, Harriet (Gary) Jentsch of Random Lake, and Pat Geidel of Lakeland, FL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ruben Geidel and Louis Geidel; and sister-in-law, Virginia Geidel; grandson-in-law, Jim Reuter.
Funeral services in remembrance of Norman will be held on Saturday, February 4th at 3:00 pm at St. John's Lutheran Church, 623 Congress Street, Newburg. Rev. Jon Baumann will officiate and Burial will follow in St. John's Church Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 12:00 (noon) until the time of service.
