Norman M. “Bud” Shady, 72, of the town of Byron, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 4, 2010, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.
He was born on August 14, 1938, in the town of Oakfield, the son of the late Merten and Olga (Zills) Shady and on November 7, 1959, he was united in marriage to Patricia “Pat” Redmann at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lomira. In 2009 Bud and Pat held an anniversary party celebrating 50 years of marriage with family and friends.
Bud was employed by the Gehl Company in West Bend for many years. He ran the asphalt plant for RAM Construction and later managed Majerus Dairy Farms until his retirement. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lomira.
Bud enjoyed watching NASCAR racing, the Green Bay Packers, fishing, especially sturgeon fishing, hunting and in his younger years was involved in horse pulls. Bud worked hard all his life. His family was very important to him and he loved spending time with them. He will be deeply missed by his wife, his family and by all who knew him.
Those Bud leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Pat; three children, Beverly (David) Vis of Lomira, Randy Shady (special friend, Deb) of Malone and Sandy Adkins of Lomira; eight grandchildren, Crystal, Kayla, Morgan, Eric, Michael, Jennifer, Ben and Shane; five great-grandchildren, Casey, Cylee, Jaylyn, Dayton and Dylan, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by a sister, Velma (Herman) Steger.
Funeral services for Bud were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 8, 2010, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 550 Water Street in Lomira. Rev. Daniel Schmidt officiated and burial followed in Byron Cemetery in the town of Byron.
Relatives and friends called at the Kietzer-Miller Funeral Home in Lomira on Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
