Norman C. Stern, age 78, of the town of Trenton, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2006 at Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk.
He was born on April 24, 1928 in the town of Farmington to the late Charles and Martha (nee Roell) Stern, and was united in marriage to Shirley Kraus on June 26, 1954 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Fredonia.
Norman worked for the West Bend Company for many years as a semi-truck driver until his retirement in 1992. During that time he received many awards for his excellent driving record. He was most proud of his One Million Miles award that he received for driving a million miles accident free.
Norman will be remembered by Holy Angels Catholic Parish and the West Bend Moose Lodge where he was a member; but he will be remembered most by his loving family as a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley; his two children, Glenn (Samantha) Stern of Merton, and Sandi Stern (very special friend Joe Josaphson) of Richfield; five grandchildren, Stephanie Engelhardt of West Bend, Jessica Neuendorf of West Bend, Breanna Hayes of Sussex, Jonathan Stern of Merton and Elizabeth Stern of Merton. He is further survived by a sister-in-law, Joan (Ted) Peelen of Greenfield; a brother-in-law, Ken (Mary) Kraus of Germantown; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Alice (Ralph) Klein.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Norman will be held on Wednesday, August 23, at 6:00 pm at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 3:00 pm until the time of Mass. Father Jerry Brittain will be the celebrant. Burial will take place on Thursday, August 24, at 11:00 am in Fillmore Union Cemetery.
Memorials to Kathy Hospice - Synergy Health (3232 Pleasant Valley Dr. West Bend, WI 53095) would be greatly appreciated by the family.
