Orin E. Kirchner, 92, of Wausaukee, formerly of the town of Kewaskum, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on February 17, 1922, in Kewaskum, the son of the late Oscar and Alma (Ramel) Kirchner, and on October 27, 1945, he was united in marriage to Lorinda Butzlaff at Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum. Lorinda preceded Orin in death on September 12, 2000.
Orin proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Crivitz. Orin farmed in the town of Kewaskum until he retired in 1984 and moved to Wausaukee. He will fondly be remembered as one who enjoyed gardening, polka music, eating his desserts and helping his children.
Those Orin leaves behind to cherish his memory include two daughters, Lucy (Bill) Perry and Diane (Edward) McAlpine, both of Wausaukee; three grandchildren, Jason and Jeremy McAlpine and Melissa (Randy) Versnik; two brothers, Elton (Beverly) Kirchner and Wilton Kirchner both of Kewaskum, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Orin was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin (Lila) Kirchner; two sisters, Arline (Leonard) Brown and LaVerne (Roman) Laubenstein; a sister-in-law, Patsy Kirchner and two brothers-in-law, Harvey Butzlaff and Walter (Rosella) Butzlaff.
Funeral services for Orin were held at noon on Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kewaskum. Rev. Jonathan Zietlow officiated and burial with military honor rites performed by members of the Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384 followed in Lutheran Memorial Park in Kewaskum.
Relatives and friends called at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
Memorials to Unity Hospice or Grace Lutheran Church in Crivitz are appreciated.
The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum was entrusted with Orin's arrangements.
