Orval A. Oehler, 97, of Kewaskum, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2015, at Kettle Moraine Gardens in Kewaskum, surrounded by his loving family. Last Rites were given to Orval on June 10, 2015, by Father Edwin Kornath.
He was born on January 28, 1918, the son of the late Ambrose and Nellie (Sperring) Oehler, and on December 30, 1940, he was united in marriage to Marcella Umlauft at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester, Wisconsin.
Orval proudly served his country in the Marines during World War II and also participated in the Honor Flight. Orval was a member of the Bintzler-Waehler American Legion Post #347 in Lomira. He had a passion for tinkering and fixing bikes and vehicles. Orval and Marcella often went traveling with their camper visiting family. He will fondly be remembered as one who enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing.
Those Orval leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Marcella; five children, Ronald Oehler of Burnsville, Minnesota, LaVern Oehler of Jackson, Judith (Thomas) Kescenovitz of Fond du Lac, Patricia (Dale) Ellie of Markesan and Kathleen (Jerry) Mislang of Menomonee Falls; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Orval was preceded in death by a grandchild; four brothers and six sisters.
Orval's family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Orval will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. Father Edwin Kornath will officiate and entombment will follow at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield.
The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Kettle Moraine Gardens, Serenity Hospice and Father Edwin Kornath for the care provided to Orval.
The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum has been entrusted with Orval's arrangements.
