Orville F. Schneiter, 83, of the city of Fond du Lac, formerly of Lomira, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 18, 2015, at the Woodlands Senior Park.
He was born on March 3, 1931, in the Town of Lomira, the son of the late Ernst and Hilda (Schwartz) Schneiter, and on December 2, 1961, he was united in marriage to Florence Hettinga who preceded him in death in June 1996. Orville was united in marriage again on September 4, 2000, to Patricia (Bintzler) Geschke at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lomira.
Orville was both baptized and confirmed at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Knowles. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1952 through 1954 in Korea and was a long time member of the Lomira American Legion Post #347 for more than 50 years. Orville worked as a machinist at Maysteel/Gleason Reel Corporation for 45 years and was a member of the IAM Lodge Union 2032 for more than 50 years. He and his wife Patricia also enjoyed camping together and were members of the Kettle Kampers club.
Those Orville leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife Patricia; four sons, Timothy (Lisa) Schneiter of North Fond Du Lac, Joel (Sue) Schneiter of Greenwood, Gary (Tonya) Schneiter and Steve Patt both of Fond Du Lac; five stepchildren, Nanette (Eugene) Gassner of Mayville, Myles (Brenda) Geschke of Lomira, Scott Geschke of Waunakee, Patrice (Steven) Moratz of Hartford and Tracy (Mary) Geschke of Jackson; 10 grandchildren, Megan, Josh and Logan Schneiter, Mykenna, Devynn and Dyllon Schneiter, Roth Schneiter and Nathan, Zachary and Chase Patt; a great-grandchild; 10 step-grandchildren, Kyle (Sara) Gassner, Colin (LaVonda) Gassner, Rhea Geschke, Kayla Unferth, Brett Geschke, Blake Geschke, Aaron Moratz, Katherine Moratz, Gabrielle Geschke and Cali Geschke; four step-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Norman, James, Junior and Kenneth Schneiter; three sisters, Lillian Wondra, Geraldine Zirbel and Georgiann Schneiter, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and first wife, Orville was preceded in death by a grandson Gavynn Schneiter; three brothers, Maynard, Gerald and Milfred Schneiter; a sister, Donna Mae Stern and a brother-in-law, Reuben Bintzler.
Services for Orville will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, in Fond du Lac. Pastor Michael Weigand will officiate and entombment will follow at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Fond du Lac.
The Schneiter Family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue the next day at Faith Lutheran Church from 12:00 p.m. until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are appreciated.
