Patricia J. “Pat” Birenbaum, 82, of Fillmore, went home to her Lord unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 19, 2007, at Synergy Health St. Joseph’s Hospital in the town of Polk, with her family at her side.

The firstborn and only daughter of the late Charles and Veronica (Ternes) Weinreich, she was born on April 22, 1925, on the Weinreich family homestead. On April 17, 1948, she was united in marriage to Willard Heise at St. Martin’s United Church of Christ in Fillmore. Her husband preceded her in death on October 17, 1974. On December 11, 1976, she was united in marriage to Clemens Birenbaum at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Dacada.

She shared her gift of music by teaching piano and accordion lessons for many years. She was a very artistic and creative person. Pat enjoyed writing poetry, quilting, basket weaving, cooking, canning, caring for her flower gardens, sewing and homemaking. She was a very active member of St. Martin’s United Church of Christ in Fillmore, where she was the church organist for 35 years. She was employed by Gilson Brothers in Fredonia, retiring in 1987, after over 20 years of service.

Pat was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She will be deeply missed, more than she’ll ever know, by her husband, her family and by all who knew her.
