Paul M. Vogelsang, age 54, of West Bend, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2008 at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee.
He was born on April 8, 1954 to Frank and Anita (nee Schneider) Vogelsang. Paul attended St. Mary's grade school and West Bend East High School and graduated in the class of 1972. He went on to UW-Stevens Point where he majored in music. He taught music, his life-long passion, at UW Washington County where he also enjoyed performing in the plays they produced. He won an award for his roll in the West Side Story. Paul was an accomplished classical guitarist and enjoyed teaching guitar in the West Bend area at UWWC and the White House of Music. He played at many weddings and church masses. He was a member of St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church, belonged to the "Peter Ayer Singing Ensemble", and enjoyed writing poems. He had a love of baseball, dramatic arts and literature. Paul found joy in ordinary things, but most of all, he had a deep affection for his mother and his entire family.
He is survived by his mother, Anita; one brother, Don (Sandy) Vogelsang of Milwaukee; a sister-in-law, Diane Lorenz-Vogelsang of West Bend; Aunt Rose Vogelsang of West Bend; cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his father, Frank; and two brothers, Ralph and Robert Vogelsang.
A Mass of Christian Burial in remembrance of Paul will be held on Tuesday, December 16, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church (1610 Monroe Street - West Bend). Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of Mass. Father Mike Moran will officiate and burial will follow the mass in Washington County Memorial Park.
