Paul T. Watzlawick, age 89, of West Bend, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 9, 2008 at St. Joseph's Hospital in the town of Polk.
He was born on May 12, 1919 in Belvidere, IL to the late John and Elsie (nee Bremmer) Watzlawick. During WWII he served his country as a surgical Tech for the United States Army. Paul was united in marriage to Audrey Wilkens on June 2, 1945 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend.
Upon his return from the service Paul began working for the West Bend Company and was a member of their 25-year club. He was employed there for 38 years before retiring in 1984 as a Machine Repair Foreman.
Paul was a member or St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend. He always had time and was willing to lend a hand to help his sons with projects. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He could often be found tending the garden, or puffing on his pipe. Family trips to Shawano Lake and Northern Wisconsin were favorite pastimes.
Paul is survived by his wife, Audrey; his three sons, Terry (Gloriann) Watzlawick of West Bend, Steve (Karen) Watzlawick of Irma, WI, and Jeff (Debbie) Watzlawick of West Bend. He is further survived by five grandchildren, Jay (Roxanne) Watzlawick, Amy (Scott) Fideler, Kristy Watzlawick, Stacey Watzlawick, Paul (fiancAC.e Abby Johnson) Watzlawick; six great-grandchildren; and many other nieces, nephews, close relatives and dear friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elsie Watzlawick; his parents-in-law, Clarence and Leona Wilkens; two brothers; and three sisters.
A funeral service in honor of Paul will be held on Wednesday, August 13th, at 7:00 pm at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home in West Bend. Rev. Jeff Dorth will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 pm until the time of service. Burial will be in Washington County Memorial Park on Thursday, August 14th at 10:00 am.
