Pauline E. Schmidt

November 14, 1931 — January 4, 2008

Pauline E. Schmidt, (nee Ewert), age 76, of West Bend, passed away Friday January 4, 2008, at Ivy Manor in Campbellsport.

She was born on November 14, 1931 in the Town of Theresa, Dodge County, to the late Otto and Celia (nee Rady) Ewert. At an early age she moved to West Bend with her family. Pauline graduated from West Bend High School in the class of 1949.

Pauline was united in marriage to Delbert Schmidt on August 23, 1952 in Junction City, Kansas, where he was stationed in the Army. Together they made their home in West Bend. After her children were raised she went back to nursing school and graduated from U.W.M. in 1974 as a Registered Nurse. Pauline worked at Hartford Hospital until her retirement in 1995.

Pauline enjoyed watching her family grow. She was a dedicated wife and mother, and her family was always number one in her life.

She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, and the West Bend Lioness Club. Pauline enjoyed quilting, bowling, playing cards with her card group of 50+ years, and spending time with her sisters, brothers, and friends. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas, and other local casinos.

She is survived by her husband, Delbert; three children, Patricia (Al) Schnepf of Ogema, Kathryn (Ken) Staehler of West Bend, and Darryl (FiancAC.e Jean Schwichtenberg) Schmidt of Allenton; four grandchildren, Marlo Smith, Kathy (Jeremy) Stahowiack, Amy Deshotels, and Bradley Staehler; three great-grandchildren, Jeff Parker, Kyle Parker, and Olivia Blacks; three sisters, Mildred (James) Reinke of West Bend, Dorothy Rick of Cromwell, MN, and Shirley Weston of West Bend; two sisters-in-law, Juneva Schmidt of West Bend, and Kathy Ewert of Colgate; a nephew, Tom (Marylee) Melius of Chugiak, AK; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Otto Ewert and his wife Diane, Karl Ewert and his wife Gail, and Ralph Ewert; a sister-in-law Delores Melius and her husband Lloyd; a brother-in-law, Burk Weston; and a nephew, Ronald Melius.

Funeral services in memory of Pauline will be held on Saturday, January 12th at 1:00 pm at the Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral Home, West Bend. Rev. Bill Wiederanders will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday at the Funeral Home from 10:00 am until the time of service. Memorials in Pauline's name may be given to the charity of your choice. Burial will be Monday, January 14th at 11:00 am, in Washington County Memorial Park.
