Priscilla Hausmann, (nee Wright) age 82, of West Bend passed away August 19, 2013 after a three-year struggle with Lewy body disease.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Dr. Wm. Hausmann IV in 2005. Priscilla is survived by three children, W. Dirk (Terry) Hausmann of Cedarburg; Ann (Bruce) Nerland of St. Paul, MN; and Todd (Lori) Hausmann of St. Paul, MN; seven cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth, Margretta, Will, Paul, Maggie, Hanna and Leah; a sister, Joan (Robert) McIntosh of Gainesville, FL; dear friend O.K. Johnson, of Mequon; other relatives and many friends.
Priscilla was born to the late James Abell Wright and Genevieve Trimborn Wright on Feb. 12, 1931, in Milwaukee. She grew up in Whitefish Bay and attended Henry Clay Grade School and Whitefish Bay High School. Priss graduated from the Lawrence College Conservatory of Music (now known as Lawrence University) with a Bachelor of Music degree. She was a member of Delta Gamma sorority and Sigma Alpha Iota, a national music sorority.
On October 30, 1954, Priscilla was united in marriage to Dr. Wm. Hausmann IV, of West Bend, Wisconsin, a dentist whose family practiced medicine and dentistry in the West Bend area for over 100 years.
A committed musician, Priscilla taught private piano lessons for 47 years, was an organist at Immanuel E & R Church and later Organist and Choir Director at St. James Episcopal Church for 35 years. She performed on organ, harpsichord and piano for many years in the West Bend area, often with local musicians, sometimes using her own arrangements and compositions. In the 1980s she began the Noon Hour Brown Bag Christmas Organ Music Concerts at various West Bend churches. Priss was most passionate about her hobby of genealogy, and published three genealogy books about her family. She is the great-great granddaughter of Werner Trimborn, of the Trimborn Farm Park, in Greendale, WI. Priss created scores of quilts and loved to knit, sew, woodwork and travel. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time at the family cabin near Mercer, Wisconsin, where she took great pleasure in the flora and fauna.
Priscilla was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, and the Episcopal Church Women, Priscilla was on the Lawrence Alumni Association Board of Directors from1989-1995, and in 2003 was awarded the Gertrude B. Jupp Award for outstanding service to Lawrence University. She was also a member of the Wisconsin State Genealogical Association, Music Teachers National Association, the Wisconsin Music Teachers Association, and the AAUW.
A memorial service in remembrance of Priscilla will be held on Saturday Sept. 7th at 11am at St. James Episcopal Church (148 S. 8th Ave.) West Bend. Fr. Richard Craig will be the celebrant. Visitation will be at the church on Friday, September 6th from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm, and Saturday Sept. 7th from 10:00 am until the time of service.
Memorial donations may be made to St. James' Episcopal Church, The Lawrence University Conservatory or the Alzheimer's Association.
