Raymond F. Bernier, age 83, of West Bend, was called home to his Lord on Monday, March 29, 2010 at St. Joseph's Hospital in West Bend.
He was born on June 18, 1926 in Milwaukee to the late John Bernier and Lucille Rohde. Ray served our country honorably during World War II by enlisting in the United States Army. Upon his return from the service Ray began working for the Milwaukee Rail Road as a car inspector until his retirement.
Ray was united in marriage to Ardice Heumann on September 17, 1949 at Siloah Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Together they moved to West Bend 21 years ago and became members of Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church. Ray enjoyed mowing the lawn and working in his garden. He also enjoyed gambling at Ho-Chunk Casino.
Ray is survived by his two daughters, Lori (Alan) Zastrow of West Bend and Jodee (Michael) Riggs of Oconomowoc; his granddaughter, Michelle Kaye of West Bend; close relatives, Marilyn Duley and Joe McCartan; his good friend, Jim Grosskoph; and many other relatives and friends.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his brother.
A memorial service in honor of Ray will be held on Monday, April 5, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home in West Bend. Rev. John Paustion will officiate and burial will be in Washington County Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
Memorial to the American Cancer Society (N19 W24350 Riverwood Dr. Waukesha, WI 53188) would be greatly appreciated by the family.
