Raymond G. Broecker, age 90, of West Bend, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2010 at the Samaritan Health Center.
He was born on March 4, 1919 in the town of Wayne to the late August and Emma (nee Wehling) Broecker. On May 3, 1980 Ray was united in marriage to Marie Uselding (nee Strau) at St. Rose Catholic Church in Fredonia.
Ray farmed his entire life and he also worked at Mallard Coach for 20 years. He was a member of the West Bend Senior Citizen Chorus and Band. He loved polka music and dancing. He also enjoyed playing sheepshead, fishing, being with people and especially being with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Marie; seven children, Earl (Marjorie) Broecker, Janice Sailer, Joseph (Janis) Broecker, June (John) King, Joy (Charles) Wallace, John (Lisa Schlosser) Broecker, and Jacob Broecker; two step-children, Jim (Sharlene) Uselding, and Eileen (Daniel) Bittner; a daughter-in-law, Pam (Jeff) Plier; 16 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Ray was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy; his second wife, Gertrude; his son, James; his stepson, Jerry Uselding; and two sisters, Olive Broecker and Verona Survis.
Funeral services in remembrance of Ray will be held on Monday, February 8th at 7:00 pm at the Myrhum ~ Patten Funeral Home, 1315 W. Washington Street, West Bend. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 pm until the time of the services. Burial will take place Tuesday, February 9th at 10:00 am at Washington County Memorial Park.
Memorials in Ray's name to the Samaritan Health Center Activity Center or the West Bend Senior Center are appreciated by the family.
