Rev. Frederick P. Bretsch

December 21, 1935 — August 19, 2007

Rev. Frederick P. Bretsch passed away Sunday, August 19, 2007 at age of 71 years.

He was born December 21, 1935 in Milwaukee to the late Elmer and Paula (nee Grob) Bretsch. He was united in marriage to Karel Ketterer on December 20, 1958 in Milwaukee.

Fred graduated from Mission House College (now Lakeland College) and Mission House Seminary (now United Seminary). He served United Church of Christ congregations in North Dakota, Nebraska, Illinois, Michigan, and was pastor for 19 years at the former Mount Tabor United Church of Christ in Milwaukee before his retirement in 1998.

Fred was the loving husband of Karel for 48 years; cherished father of Julie (Robert) St. Clair, Joy Bretsch, Jennifer (Tom) Picciolo, Jeremy Bretsch, and Jonathan Bretsch; proud grandfather of Michael and Peter Picciolo; loving son-in-law of Norma Hesse; dear brother of Barbara (Jack) May and Kathy (Jerry) Schmitz; brother-in-law of Jeanne (John) Wallrath; and special friend to Linda Kindt. He is also survived by nieces, a nephew, other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 26 at 3:00 p.m. at New Hope United Church of Christ, 4360 Jackson Dr., Jackson, WI. Visitation will be at the church on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.

The family is grateful for the loving care provided by the staff at Cedar Community Health Care Center and Cedar Community Hospice, as well as the friendship and pastoral care given by The Rev. Jim Hill of New Hope UCC where Fred was a member. The family is appreciative of all the support provided by extended family, friends and colleagues.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer's Association of Southeast. Wisconsin, Cedar Community or New Hope UCC are appreciated.
