Pastor Janis C. Best, an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church, passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2010.

Janis was born on June 2, 1949 in Charlevoix, Michigan to William and Erma (Nee Finch) Best. She was raised in a military family and lived in Germany and Canada as a child.

Ordained in 1997, Janis first served churches in Ellsworth, Diamond Bluff, and Hartland. She then was an Associate Pastor at Lake Street United Methodist Church in Eau Claire, followed by an appointment in Durand and Arkansaw. Janis became Campus Ministry/Director of the Wesley Foundation, Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN. She then served churches in Manawa and Iola, followed by Wesley Church in Manitowoc. Janis was pastor at Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church in West Bend from 2007 until the time of her death.

Janis is survived by her daughter, Krista, her parents, Bill & Erma Best of Holmen, WI; brother, Tom Best; sister-in-law Betty Best; nephew Spencer Best and niece, Tracey Best.
