Rev. Victor C. Hackbarth, age 95, of West Bend, WI, was called to his Heavenly home Friday, June 21, 2013 at the Samaritan Health Center in West Bend, WI.
He was born on July 20, 1917 in Richfield, WI to the late Richard and Alwina (nee Korth) Hackbarth. He was united in marriage to Ruth Von Bargen on February 10, 1940 in Dubuque, IA. Rev. Victor was ordained at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lebanon, WI in May of 1943. Prior to serving Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in West Bend, WI, he served Lutheran congregations in Garnavillo, IA, Baroda, MI, Belmont, WI, and Nevada, IA. Following his retirement, Rev. Victor's ministry lead him to serve as the chaplain for the Washington County Sheriff's Department as well as the Lutheran Home in Fond du Lac, WI.
He was a former member and past president of the West Bend Noon Kiwanis Club and volunteered for the American Red Cross in West Bend, WI.
Rev. Victor is survived by four children, Donald Hackbarth of Nevada, IA, Judith (David) Holmes of Wauwatosa, WI, Jane (Erwin) Moses of Fort Mitchell, KY, and David (Nancy) Hackbarth of Fond du Lac, WI; five grandchildren, Julie Moses, Stephanie (Barry) Ko, Matthew (Julie) Moses, Aaron Hackbarth, and Brent Holmes; three great-grandchildren, Madeline Ko, Ava Hackbarth, and Emily Hackbarth; a brother, George; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; his son, James Richard Hackbarth; his parents, Richard and Alwina; a sister, Grace Biljan; and brothers, Alfred, Rudy, and Oscar.
Funeral services in remembrance of Rev. Victor will be held on Tuesday, June 25th at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior's Ev. Lutheran Church, 1044 Silverbrook Dr., West Bend, WI. Rev. Darrin Wiebe will officiate and burial will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Lebanon, WI . Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Our Savior's Ev. Lutheran Church are appreciated.
