Richard A. “Dick” Barnekow, 72, of the town of Ashford, passed away on Friday, January 11, 2013, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.
He was born on December 25, 1940, in Milwaukee, the son of the late Maynard and Antoinette (Bauer) Barnekow. On June 16, 1999, he was united in marriage to Paulette Roth.
Dick farmed in the town of Ashford, where he raised bison, elk, white-tail deer, beef cattle, pigs, horses and array of other critters. He also drove truck for many years. Dick will fondly be remembered as a man with a golden heart, but an iron fist. He will be deeply missed by his wife, his family and by all who knew him.
Those Dick leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Paulette Roth; Louie, the unwanted dog; three children, Doug Paswaters, Diana Paswaters and Robin Schrauth; seven grandchildren, Renee Schrauth, Keith, Danielle, Crystal Lynn, Misty, Noel and Heather Paswaters; his twin sister, Nancy (Don) Leisner of Largo, Florida; a brother, Jim (Diane) Barnekow of Conover; four nephews, Tom (Jacki) Leisner, Mark (Patti) Leisner, Jeff (Sara) Barnekow and John (Christi) Barnekow; great-grandchildren, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service for Dick will be held in the summer.
The Kietzer-Miller Funeral Home in Lomira has been entrusted with Dick’s arrangements.
