Richard J. “Rick” Boden, 77, of Kewaskum, passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls.
He was born on February 25, 1933, in West Bend, the son of the late Matthias and Hilda (Peters) Boden, and on September 17, 1955, he was united in marriage to Lorraine Westerman at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in the town of Wayne.
Rick served his country in the Army National Guard, and was a member of the Kewaskum Fire Department retiring after 25 years of service. He served as Assistant Fire Chief from 1976-77. He was employed for 44 years by Fairmont Foods/Kemps Dairy in Kewaskum retiring as a distribution manager. Rick was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum and a member of the Knights of Columbus Father Casper Rehrl Council 1964 West Bend.
Rick will fondly be remembered as an avid deer hunter who enjoyed hunting with his sons and grandsons and for the fun times enjoyed with family and friends at their home north of Crivitz. He will be deeply missed by his wife, his family and by all who knew him.
Those Rick leaves behind to cherish his memory include loving wife of 54 years, Lorraine; four children, Jeff “Tubby” (Kris) Boden of Kewaskum, Terry Boden of Campbellsport, Mark (Nancy) Boden of the town of Kewaskum and Bonnie (Robert “Murphy”) Ruplinger of the town of Wayne; seven grandchildren, Kelly (Brad) Nerat, Jesse (Julie) Korth, Christopher (Stacy) Boden, Lisa (Kyle) Brunner, Emily Boden, Kyle and Ryan Ruplinger; six great-grandchildren, Grace and Joey Nerat, Eden, Warren and Eleanor Korth and Paige Boden; three brothers-in-law, Richard (Angie) Westerman of West Bend, Lloyd (Rosie) Westerman of Kewaskum and Phil Hahn of Campbellsport; two sisters-in-law, Ardell Fell of Cedarburg and Sally Doll of West Bend, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by two sisters, Arlene (Roy) Butz and Shirley (Robert) Metternich; a sister-in-law, Mary Hahn and two brothers-in-law, Gerald Doll and Joe Fell.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Rick was held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 13, 2010, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 331 Main Street in Kewaskum. Father Edwin Kornath, Father Elroy Pesch O.F.M. Cap and Father Mark Jones officiated and burial in the parish cemetery was at 9:00 a.m. on Monday.
Relatives and friends called on Sunday at the church from 3:00 p.m. until the time of Mass. Members of the Knights of Columbus gathered at the church for a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. and Kewaskum Fire Department members gathered for an honorary walk through at 4:30 p.m.
