Richard F. "Dick" Froehlich, age 78, of West Bend, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2006, at St. Joseph's Hospital in the town of Polk.
He was born on December 2, 1927 to the late Richard and Vera (nee Johnson) Froehlich in Chicago, IL. At a young age Richard and his family moved to Sheboygan where he graduated from Central High School. Following his graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a Seaman 1st Class. After his military service, Richard attended Lakeland College and graduated with a B.S. in Education. He was united in marriage to Virginia Humke on June 25, 1955 at the First Methodist Church in Sheboygan. Richard began the Froehlich Insurance Agency that he owned and operated for 40 years before retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, and Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church. He will always be remembered as a very kind and special man.
He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia; his three children, Richard (Linda) Froehlich of Stevens Point, Thomas Froehlich of Venice, CA, and William (Heather) Froehlich of Plymouth, MN; five grandchildren, Matthew, Christopher, and Michael Froehlich of Stevens Point and Hailey, and Hunter Froehlich of Plymouth, MN. He is further survived by a sister, Betty Jane (Ralph) Eckard of Hickory, North Carolina; two brothers-in-law, Herbert (Elizabeth) Humke of Sheboygan, and Earl (Marjory) Jochimsen of Sheboygan; other loving relatives and friends.
A memorial service in celebration of Dick's life will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2006 at 5:30 pm at Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church (323 S. Fifth Ave. West Bend, WI 53095). Rev. Jon Bartlett Will officiate. Visitation with the family will be at the church from 3:00 pm until the time of service.
Memorials to Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church or to the Charity of Choice would be greatly appreciated.
