Richard Frederick Hardegen

May 13, 1946 — December 3, 2013

Richard Fredrick Hardegen, age 67, of Nekoosa, formerly of West Bend passed away on Tuesday December 3, 2013 at House of Dove Hospice in Marshfield.

He was born in West Bend on May 13, 1946 to the late Alfred and Alice (nee Meyer) Hardegen. Richard was raised on the family farm until age 6, with his sisters. The family then moved to the city of West Bend. He graduated from West Bend High School in the class of 1964.

Richard was a welder by trade and then worked in a machine shop; He also had his own towing business. Most recent he worked as a car detailer in Waukesha, and Stevens Point.

Richard was blessed to have many friends in Nekoosa, Illinois and the West Bend area. He had a love for the outdoors, boating, and was willing to help anyone; he also had a passion for getting to know people.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Stepp - Hardegen of 12 years; two children, Kim Grob of West Allis, and Jason Hardegen of California; two step children, Colleen Haase of Milwaukee, and Jason (Susan) Stepp of Brookfield; two blessed grandchildren, Eli and Amelia; two step grandchildren, Brandon and Zachary; two sisters, Rose Ahsinger of California, and Mona Voigt of Grafton; other relatives and friends.

Awaiting his Eternal joy are his parents, Alfred and Alice; two sisters, Jean Rose and Joyce Hardegen - Waldeck.

Funeral service in remembrance of Richard will be held on Tuesday December 10th at 12:00noon at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home (1315 W. Washington St.) West Bend. The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the time of service. Burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park. In Lieu of flowers memorials to Ministry Hospice Services (220 3rd Avenue South Suite 102 Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin 54495) or House of the Dove (1000 W. 11th Street Marshfield, Wisconsin 54449) are appreciated by the family.
